We recently fitted a 5kW Cedar log burner for a client in Nottingham, transforming their fireplace into a functional and eye-catching feature. The job involved working with the original marble hearth, which the customer wanted to keep in place. After carrying out a full knock-out to open up the chamber, we carefully reused the existing marble side pieces to extend the hearth backward, making sure it met current regulations while maintaining the overall look.
The result was a clean, balanced finish that retained the charm of the original hearth but allowed space for the new stove to sit safely and comfortably. This approach not only saved on materials but also helped preserve a part of the home’s character.
The Cedar model we installed is a DEFRA-approved, multi-fuel 5kW stove, which means it’s suitable for use in smoke control areas like Nottingham. It offers a blend of performance, style and practicality - ideal for customers looking to heat a medium-sized room with a stove that’s both efficient and attractive.
One of the standout features of this stove is its large Schott Robax® glass door, which provides a wide flame picture and a cosy focal point. The built-in airwash system helps keep the glass clear, making sure the fire is always visible and easy to enjoy. With both top and rear flue outlet options, the stove offers flexible installation depending on the layout of the chimney and room.
The Cedar log burner is British-designed and manufactured to strict quality assurance standards. It meets European certification (BS EN 13240), meaning it’s been tested for safety and performance. Inside, it features vermiculite firebrick lining for heat retention and durability, as well as an integrated handle and an adjustable door latch for smooth, safe operation.
This model fits comfortably into both modern and traditional interiors thanks to its clean lines and versatile contemporary look. For this particular job in Nottingham, it paired especially well with the marble hearth and soft neutral décor of the client’s living room.
The Cedar stove offers the benefits of a traditional log burner, whilst supporting modern features that make it easier to live with. Its multi-fuel design means it can burn both logs and approved smokeless fuels, giving the homeowner added flexibility.
At Oxley’s Installations, we aim to provide high quality stove installations that look fantastic whilst effectively heating your property. This Cedar log burner in Nottingham is a perfect example of how thoughtful installation, paired with a well-designed product can make a big difference in any home.
